Nandambakkam, Chennai: In a classic case of discrimination against South Indians a 30 yr old man named Kandasamy Ponnusamy has filed a case against a Delhite Ritika,26.The case came into limelight when Kandasamy threatened to flash ablaze himself near Chennai Trade Centre if Ritika doesnt apologize in public and agrees to swim with him.
According to our sources Ritika was overheard telling her friend Ashwini during a Badminton session" Main iske saath ek swimming pool main nahi naha sakti. Rang chodd diya toh mera kya hoga". I cant swim with him. What if he loses his skin color. She also tried to make fun of his name distorting Kandasamy as Master(Swami) of Onion(Kanda).
Kandasamy,who is otherwise observed as a calm man, decided to file a case against Ritika in Consumer Court doubting the quality of Polish he uses. He was also successful in getting support from other men and women from nearby region using same Polish and having similar skin tone.
Even some political parties like Pattali Makkal Katchi(PMK) have come forward in full support of Kandasamy and have declared a one day bandh in Chennai. Children after hearing this news also joined the movement in hope of getting more such welcome holidays.
As told to our reporter ChoR MoR by a local resident familiar to both parties involved," The issue is very trivial and could have been sorted out much earlier if Ritika would have not sparked the row by commenting on his surname as well".
Ritika reportedly made fun of his surname by making middle finger gesture and distorting his surname 'Ponnusamy' as 'Master of Punnu' which in North India would have meant 'man with small genitals'.
Kandasamy, who is not so conversant with hindi, however misunderstood it thinking that Ritika has seen his private organ while swimming and found it tiny or Punnu. The problem caught fire when friends tried to mediate in between and Kandasamy came to know during mediation that the unfriendly gesture was not due to anything else but his surname.
Till writing this report Ritika has said sorry to Kandasamy several times and requested to withdraw the case but Kandasamy is adamant on swimming with Ritika.When contacted Ritika said" I am planning to marry soon and I can’t take chance swimming with him no matter what".
Kandasamy was not available for comments as he was preparing to set ablaze himself if Ritika doesnt agree to swim with him.
